Airport: Saipan International Airport (airport code: SPN) is located near the southern most part of the island.

Upon arriving every passenger is required to pass through immigration (see Visas/Passport requirements below) and customs. All of the CNMI practices U.S. style customs laws and enforcement practices.

Upon departing, traveler should be prepared to encounter the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which enforces U.S. Homeland Security measures. Airlines that fly to Saipan include Continental Airlines, China Southern, Northwest Airlines, and Asiana Airways.

Transportation to/from airport includes tour buses, car rental services, and licensed taxi-operators. If you take a taxi, it is approximate 20-mins (and/or approx 5 to 7-miles anywhere you go within Saipan). Published rates are $2.50 flag-down (good for up to one-half mile) and $0.75/mile after that. Travelers should make sure the meter is reset/cleared before, and running, once you begin your journey. Each of these services is located just outside the luggage pickup through the doors after passing through Customs.

Visas: Those persons holding U.S. passports do not need a visa. Tourists from US visa waiver countries who intend to stay thirty (30) days or less do not need a visa, regardless of country of origin. However, country of origin passport must be valid for sixty (60) days. In addition, visitors are asked to show a departure ticket and proof of sufficient resources for the length of stay.
